About the role

The Finance Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring the day-to-day task in a financial department. The individual must have a good knowledge of Belgian Gaap and VAT. The ideal candidate will have a background in the financial services industry.

Job requirements

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the company accounting practices and procedures

  • Assist the finance team with preparing and analysing financial transactions

  • Successfully manage accounts receivable, accounts payable and bank reconciliation

  • Perform financial/data analysis

  • Perform month-end closing activities and assist with the annual budgeting process

  • Identify and resolve financial and operational issues

  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial related information

Accountabilities

  • Update financial spreadsheets with daily transactions

  • Track and reconcile bank statements

  • Create cost analysis reports

  • Process payments

  • Support monthly payroll and keep organised records

  • Record accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Process invoices and follow-up with clients, suppliers and partners as needed

  • Provide support during budget preparation

  • Participate in quarterly and annual audits


Essential Skills

  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures

  • Proficient in MS Office and Excel

  • Self-motivated, proactive and innovative style

  • Ability to work independently and on a team

  • Familiarity with accounting software “Netsuite”

  • Organisational and time management skills

  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors

  • Bachelor in finance, accounting or economics

  • Fluent in French and Dutch is a plus

Where possible we offer the opportunity to work flexibly and the opportunity to balance some remote working with time in the office collaborating, taking part in events and developing the social connections that make working with us rewarding. For this role a minimum of 3 days in the office will be required with remote wording offered for the remaining working days.
