Within our offices in London, Chester, and Europe, Equals comprises three business lines and brands - Equals Money, FairFX and CardOneMoney. About the role

This role is about owning and elevating our Retool ecosystem. We need a strong full stack engineer who can bring structure, consistency, and best practices to our internal tooling. You’ll define our delivery strategy, standardise implementation across our current Retool applications, workflows, and agents, while also enabling increased adoption across the organisation.

By building reusable components, delivery pipelines, and integrating secure development practices, you’ll ensure Retool is optimised to deliver at scale. This is both a hands-on engineering role and a platform-enablement role where you’ll empower other teams to build faster, safer, and better.

Success Criteria

  • Delivers a clean, consistent and easy to use Retool ecosystem.

  • Increases the overall usage and uptake of Retool across the build function and beyond.

  • Builds and extends Retool components, templates & tools that enable ever quicker build.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Define good practices for building:

    • Applications

    • Workflows

    • Agents

  • Build re-usable, common Retool components.

  • Educate teams on proper usage of environments.

  • Ensure changes are delivered through a standardised delivery pipeline.

  • Perform proof-of-concepts for new tooling approaches.

  • Establish a well-organised structure for managing applications, workflows and agents.

  • Integrate external design systems into Retool.

  • Embed secure development practices.

  • Align Retool’s permission model with in-house services.

  • Establish test coverage for existing applications and workflows.

  • Provide feedback & feature requests to Retool account managers.

Accountabilities

  • Owns the technical direction and governance of the Retool ecosystem.

  • Acts as the primary internal expert for Retool best practices.

  • Ensures internal customers (builders) can leverage Retool effectively and safely.

  • Drives adoption of shared components and templates to avoid duplication.

Essential Skills

  • Strong full stack engineering background (JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, APIs).

  • Proven experience building and scaling internal tools or low-code platforms.

  • Ability to define and enforce development standards and security practices.

  • Comfortable collaborating across multiple teams and functions.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Retool or similar internal developer platforms.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and secure SDLC practices.

  • Familiarity with enterprise authentication & authorisation models.

  • Background in integrating design systems into application frameworks.

  • Experience driving adoption of developer tools in a scaling environment.
