About the Role

The Onboarding Team Leader is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of reliable onboarding and monitoring activities in the organisation’s first line of defence. The individual must have a demonstrated knowledge of financial crime, including Anti-Money laundering (AML), sanctions, terrorist financing and KYC. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team of analysts within an Onboarding or KYC function of a regulated entity. The perfect candidate will have had experience in the payments industry or with a fintech. 


Regrettably we cannot offer this role to individuals who do not possess the legal right to reside and work in the Netherlands.


Job requirements

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the organisation’s KYC and onboarding procedure, working with the second line of defence to ensure all customers are onboarded according to the organisation’s policies.

  • Gather, analyse and assess documentation relating to customer background information, including business and personal profile (using proprietary, subscription, and publicly available sources) in order to effectively assess the merchant risk profile

  • Managing EMEU’s operational risk exposure by supporting the broader business to identify areas of operational risk exposure and by developing and implementing corrective action.

  • Leading and coaching the organisation’s Onboarding team through effective 1:1 coaching and goal setting.

  • Participate in new hire training, mentoring, performance calibrations, teammate selection, internal talent movement, and training needs assessment and closure of knowledge gaps.

  • Calculation of the financial risk exposure and the relevant risk mitigation measures.

  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records of applications and client information in the CRM.

  • Communicate Requests/Outcomes to approved partners in line with pre-established guidelines

Essential Skills

  • 2-4 years of experience in people leadership roles within the payments industry.

  • 2 years of experience in compliance, KYC and/or risk within a regulated institution.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Visa/Mastercard rules.

  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and comfortable leading cross-functional projects.

  • Comfortable operating with autonomy.

  • Ability to think critically and solve problems with limited information.

  • Tertiary qualification preferred.

  • Fluent in English (French is a bonus)


Where possible we offer the opportunity to work flexibly and the opportunity to balance some remote working with time in the office collaborating, taking part in events and developing the social connections that make working with us rewarding. For this role a minimum of 3 days in the office in [Brussels/Amsterdam] will be required with remote working offered for the remaining working days.
