About the role

The Paralegal will play a key supporting role within the Legal team, assisting with a wide range of commercial, corporate, and regulatory legal work across the Equals Group. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, detail-oriented individual who is keen to gain broad exposure to legal issues in a fast-paced financial technology environment.

 

You will support the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel in day-to-day operations, contract management, document preparation, governance, and the improvement of internal legal processes.


About you

We will carry out individual interviews for shortlisted candidates and assess who is best suited for the role after we have discussed everything with you.

 

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and assist with the negotiation of commercial agreements under supervision.

  • Support the legal team with contract lifecycle management, maintaining accurate records and templates.

  • Conduct legal research and provide summaries of relevant case law, regulation, or policy developments.

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining corporate governance documents, including board minutes, resolutions, and statutory filings.

  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives, including document reviews and policy updates.

  • Help coordinate and track legal projects, due diligence, and document execution.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel as required.

  • Assist with litigation, pre-action correspondence, and other dispute management support.

  • Contribute to improving internal processes, playbooks, and templates to increase efficiency and consistency


Accountabilities

Delivery of timely and accurate legal support to internal stakeholders.

Maintenance of organised, up-to-date legal and corporate records.

Support in implementing and maintaining high standards of legal and regulatory compliance.

Upholding confidentiality, professional standards, and alignment with Equals’ values in all work.


Essential Skills

  • Law degree or equivalent qualification; LPC, SQE, or CILEX training desirable.

  • Experience working as a paralegal, ideally in-house or within financial services, fintech, or a commercial environment.

  • Excellent drafting, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise competing tasks.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems.

  • A collaborative team player with a can-do attitude.

Desirable Skills

Experience with contract management tools or workflow systems.

Familiarity with FCA, e-money, or payment services regulation.

Exposure to data protection, IP, or corporate governance work.
